Learning Outcomes:
Class 1: Managing Your People -
The course will cover the objectives, methods, and forms of business communications; business research; and the classification and presentation of findings. Formal and informal communication levels and listening skills will be discussed that will lead to success in your professional career. The course further provides a basic approach to business life through a survey of major functions and offers an overview of business organizations; the business environment and theory and principles of organization and management.

Class 2: Analyzing the Business Process –
This class provides the student with theory and practice associated with the analysis and design of business processes and systems in identifying and solving PROBLEMS. A manager has two main functions to "make decisions and solve problems." Therefore, the good manager must be able to recognize and identify where the problems exist. The purpose, function and expected outcomes of each phase and activity of the systems development life cycle (SDLC) are discussed from theoretical and practical perspectives. Specific design techniques, such as data flow diagrams for project planning (problem correction) will be discussed along with other topics on planning and project management. Furthermore, the student will LEARN how to design and test QUESTIONNAIRE SURVEYS to assist with conducting feasibility studies.

  • Use of materials such as cases, examples, and real situations to present course concepts.

10:30AM to 12:00PM (1.50 hours) Tools to assist management in problem solving, such as: Case Tools; Data Flow Diagrams and Relationship Models & E-R Diagrams for problem solving; and the Introduction to GANTT Charts & PERT Diagrams for Project planning

1:00PM to 2:30PM (1.50 hours) Discussion on Observing, Interviewing and using questionnaires. Designing Questionnaire “SURVEYS” –testing surveys; Protyping and sampling.

Seminar Structure: Refreshments will be served at the beginning of each seminar and at the breaks.
